December Report – Toronto NAJC holds its 2015 Annual General Meeting

The Greater Toronto Chapter of the NAJC held its Annual General Meeting on December 6 at 1:00 pm at the Toronto Buddhist Church with an attendance of 20 devoted members. The meeting was chaired by Bruce Tatemichi, Vice President of the chapter, who welcomed the attendees. Bruce acknowledged the service of David Fujino, who resigned from the Board of Directors in November after serving as President for 3 years. He also acknowledged former board member Bob Tanaka who resigned earlier in the year, for his years of service to the Toronto NAJC. Next each of the remaining Board members introduced themselves to the meeting as follows:

Ken Galloway is a professional videographer and is the youth liaison for the chapter;

Yosh Inouye is a retired commercial photographer and active in the JC community in Toronto;

Randy Sakauye is a professional engineer and manages a specialty metal company and serves as chapter Treasurer;

Ron Shimizu is a retired environmental consultant and serves as chapter Secretary;  

Toku Suyama is retired and a very active volunteer at the Toronto Buddhist Church and a board member of Japanese Social Services agency;

Bruce Tatemichi is a professional musician, a community volunteer judo instructor and scout leader and serves as chapter Vice President;

Kim Uyede-Kai is employed by the United Church of Canada and works with congregations in Southern Ontario.

AGM2015This was followed by a brief recap of the chapter’s 2015 activities (see the chapter’s January report posted on this website). Next, Treasurer Randy Sakauye presented the chapter’s 2015 financial statement. A motion to accept the financial statement was made and approved. On behalf of the Election Committee, chapter member Bill Kobayashi recommended a slate of nominees be elected to the 2016 Board of Directors. The slate consisted of the individuals named above. A motion to accept the recommended slated was made and approved. A motion to adjourn the meeting was approved at 2:20pm.
