Please mark Sunday December 7, 2014, at 2:00 pm, on your calendars:  the Greater Toronto Chapter is holding its AGM (Annual General Meeting) at its office. Those interested in having their name put forward for a position on the Board are encouraged to contact the Chapter office in writing. Simply contact the office at and request that we send you a nomination sheet. Nominations must be signed by three Toronto NAJC members in good standing and must be received and post marked no later than 30 days prior to the AGM. No nominations from the floor will be accepted.

We’d appreciate receiving your support and would love to see you at our AGM. Tea will be served.

AGM (Annual General Meeting)

Toronto Chapter Office

When: December 7, 2014    2:00 – 4:00 pm
Where: 6 Garamond Court, Suite 240, Toronto Ontario, M3C 1Z5

Meanwhile, on the Toronto front, the talent and brave humanity of wood sculptor Kats Takada has been beautifully on exhibit at the JCCC Gallery at 6 Garamond Court from July 2 to September 30, 2014 (416-441-2345). The raw humanity and aging flesh of humans, men and women, are captured in Takada’s surprising at times  literary and engagingly personal wood ‘portraits’ (19?) of what it’s like for family and friends to get old, what it looks like to be caught in circumstances beyond your control, what the face of grief and pain and sexual desire (chemically induced or not) looks like in mahogany, cedar, and spruce, to name some of the woods he’s used. Takada’s  expression is loose and direct with lots of strong broad strokes and only detailed when it wants to be. There’s so much life force in Takada’s large wooden portraits. They are so essentialized.

Finally, please stay healthy and happy.

Best wishes from the Toronto Chapter, respectfully yours,

David Fujino
